Ban the Van
May 07, 2018

Are you as sick as I am about hearing of still another incident in which innocent people are killed by drivers who rent vans from the like of U-Haul, Ryder, and others?
Never mind that these vans were rented and driven by terrorists hellbent on killing “non-believers.” Our task, and I hope you are with me on this, is to remove all rented vans from the streets where good, law abiding citizens live. We’ve simply witnessed way too much carnage from these alleged innocent vans. Never mind people claim the right to use these vans to help them move, transport goods, or ferry merchandise.
It is time we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Maybe the first step should be for students teachers to release students on a day to be determined so they can participate in protests of easily available vans with automatic transmissions and high capacity engines.
I say start with students because clearly adults, despite their wisdom and experience, have grown too possessive of their rights. I’m talking now about the right to own, rent, or borrow a van to use however they please. Clearly, adults have failed us. It’s time we put students in charge.
They could gather around the globe holding their banners high and chanting clever slogans like, “Hey hey, ho ho killer vans have got to go.” I’m sure the good folks over at CNN will help them write their speeches and press releases.
Let’s face it folks, it’s time we “BAN THE VAN.”
Just consider the dozens of murders committed by terrorists with vans, trucks, and wagons in places like New York, France, and now Toronto. They’ve shown how easy it is to jump a curb in a busy pedestrian walkway and turn a simple sidewalk into a killing field. Why wouldn’t we want to ban the van … or for that matter the SUV, crossover, truck, or station wagon. In fact, just think for a moment how much damage a committed terrorist could achieve with a smart car.
Don’t think I’m serious? And yet we have zero compunction to advocate a ban on guns … or some guns … and greatly restrict who can own guns. If a gun ban can be taken seriously, why not a ban on vans and other vehicles that could be used to kill people?
Sure, I know that those who advocate restrictions on who should be able to buy guns would scream bloody murder over my tongue-in-cheek proposal. They would rightly claim it’s the worst kind of “profiling” despite the fact it might well save countless lives. But gee, sounds a lot like the same kind of argument the anti-gun people are using.
