Democrats Gut The Rules to Win

Is there no proposal too outlandish, too expensive, too oppressive that Democrats won’t advance in their efforts to win a primary?

So far they’ve endorsed a platform that bankrupts the country, kills babies after birth, and gets rid of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. And to their credit, they seem to realize that by moving so far to the left, their nominee will be unelectable in the general election. At least so long as that general election is free and fair.

So naturally, they’re now offering a large variety of ideas to change the rules and tilt the election in their favor.

Their first idea is to reduce the voting age to 16 years of age. The rationale is that since these kids are studying government in school, they should be allowed to participate.

It’s truly ridiculous. 90% of children who are 16 and 17 can’t tell you how many branches of government we have, can’t recognize a photo of our Vice President, can’t tell you the length of a congressional term, and can’t name their own member of congress. Most of them don’t work, don’t pay taxes, and don’t have the slightest idea what makes our economy tick or what’s at stake. In fact, those very facts are why Democrats are so anxious to give 16 and 17 year old’s the vote — they share all the attributes of a Democrat voter!

Another idea they’re pushing is giving illegal immigrants the right to vote — more brilliance from the left. This is a big part of the reason they want to open our borders. If it were Republicans clamoring to get in, Democrats would be signing a very different tune about border security. But since they believe those trying to get in will vote overwhelmingly for Democrats, they calculate we should let in anyone who wants in. Why not just send ballots to everyone in the world and let them decide who will govern the United States?

Current law is this: if you are a US citizen in good standing, you may vote in local, state and federal elections. Why in the world would we give that privilege to people who broke the law to get here and who are NOT American citizens? They have NO right to vote!

The third proposal they advocate is to get rid of the Electoral College. Their rationale sounds good: one person, one vote. But in truth, abolishing the Electoral College would give those in just a few states total authority over who is elected America’s President.

In fact, the voters in just 5 states — CA, NY, MI, NJ and IL — would decide any national election. Without the electoral college, the voters in the other 45 states simply don’t matter.

And it will come as no surprise that the voters in these 5 states are about as liberal as you can imagine. Without the electoral college, the voters in these 5 states would decide who would be President of all 50 states and never again would Democrats have to worry about competing against Republicans for the White House.

In fact, the only question would be who could outbid every other Democrat with the biggest give-away to obtain the Democrat nomination.

Our founding fathers were no dummies. They understood that in establishing the Electoral College they were making sure every state had a say in choosing our president.

They originally established 21 as the voting age because they knew there was value in entrusting the future of our nation to those who had enough maturity and knowledge to take that responsibility seriously. They didn’t give the vote to 12 year olds, or 14 year olds, or 16 year olds for good reason.

And by restricting the vote to U.S. citizens, they assured outside forces could not determine the politics or policies that determine the well-being of our people.

Please don’t be fooled by the liberals who want to change the rules. They aren’t doing it because they care, they’re doing it in a cynical grab for political power to fundamentally change our country, our economy, and our values: hard work, personal responsibility, and individual freedom.

There is no land too far Democrats aren’t prepared to take us in their hate for America.

Their far left base makes up less than 20% of America’s voters. But if Democrats succeed in changing the rules, that small minority of far left Americans will decide not just who wins their own primary, but who becomes president. Then the crazy ideas Democrat candidates are proposing could actually become law. Now, that’s frightening.
