Democrats Treat Muslims As Friends, Christians As Enemies, And Voters As Idiots

I’ve always wondered how Democrats justify treating one religion they disagree with as the enemy, and another they disagree with as their best friends.

Given any opportunity, Democrats can’t resist poking their finger in the eye of Christians, but readily pander to Muslims.

Why? After all, when it comes to the social issues Democrats claim to place above all other considerations, devout Muslims and believing Christians pretty much side against Democrat doctrine.

I’m talking here about those who actually know something about the sacred writings of their faith, and try at least to align their behavior and beliefs with them.

For those believers, I’d say most Muslims, Christians, and even pious Jews, pretty much agree that gay marriage, abortion on demand, drug legalization, and single parenthood should be avoided. They would also mostly agree that strong families should be celebrated.

That’s not to say there aren’t serious distinctions, but you’d think those differences too would work in favor of Christians. The biggest distinction on such issues is that Christians and Jews are more inclined to accept the sinner even while they recognize the sin. By contrast, the Islamic faith doesn’t include a strong tradition of redemption and atonement, so Muslims are far more likely to condemn the sinner along with the sin.

So why would those who claim to champion LGBTQ rights, pro-abortion, and single parenthood pander so shamelessly to those who are almost, and sometimes quite literally, in violent opposition to them? And why are liberals so antagonistic to believing Christians who may disagree on such issues, but are admonished by their faith to do so with love and respect for the persons engaged in such activities?

And if you don’t think that’s what’s happening, let me give you a little background.

Past Presidents from the first George W. (Washington) to the last George W.; whether they believed or not, encouraged Christian thinking and conduct.

At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, George Washington and our founders started each meeting with a prayer, “to the Creator of the universe, and the Governor of all nations…” In 18 14, Francis Scott Key penned into our anthem, “And this be our motto: ‘in God is our trust.’” Under Abe Lincoln, that motto was imprinted on the two-cent piece.

In 1952, President Truman designated one day a year as national Prayer day. Dwight Eisenhower urged Congress to add “under God” to our pledge in 1954. And, in 1988, Ronald Regan established the National Day of Prayer on

the first Thursday of each May.

Skip forward a couple of decades and all that changed.

In June of 2007 presidential candidate Barack Obama declared, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation.” Two years later, Obama didn’t show up for the National Day of Prayer. The White House announced he chose, instead, to observe it “privately.” He didn’t want to offend anybody.

Today, any prayer that references Jesus is banned in public schools. Children have been expelled for bringing a Bible to school. On many campuses, talk of Christianity, Christmas, or Easter are forbidden. And even in religion classes, when it comes to Christianity, the focus centers on the crusades and Christian persecution by other Christians, while teaching about Islam leaves out its violent history and centers on its doctrines.

Christianity isn’t only under attack in our public schools, but also in our public life. Many city councils sit terrified to erect traditional Nativity scenes for fear of law suits from atheists, Muslims, or malcontents like the ACLU. Christian cake makers, photographers, and venues have literally been driven out of business by local and state governments for refusing to provide service to a wedding with which they disagree on religious grounds.

So why do modern-day Democrats so pander to Muslims, but hold believing Christians in such contempt?

The reason underscores the cynicism Democrats bring to every political calculation. Democrats support Muslims because Muslims tend overwhelmingly to vote for Democrats.

Islam isn’t tethered to the values of freedom, liberty, and democracy. Free markets, equal opportunity, and economic justice are not as important in Muslim tradition as they are to most Christians. For Muslims, socialist health care, ending charter schools, and intense government involvement in your day-to-day life are just fine.

Double standards are dangerous things especially when they’re justified primarily for personal or political gain. In those situations, it’s called hypocrisy.

And “hypocrite” precisely describes Democrats who extol the virtues of tolerance, equal rights, and social justice; but pander to those who’d rather throw a gay man off the top of a building than meet him for dinner. And God help the daughter of the Muslim family who shows up pregnant, or who expresses interest in exploring another religion.

The leaders of the Democrat Party make the attainment of power the ultimate good beyond any consideration what principle they must violate or to whom they must cater. Thinking voters too dumb to figure out their hypocrisy, they hide behind accusations against their opponents of Islamophobia.

But not all voters are the idiots Democrats suppose. At a Trump rally in Florida a couple of months ago, First Lady Melania Trump set aside the usual practice of “pumping up” the crowd expected by an opening speaker. Instead, she started the rally with the Lord's Prayer. When she finished, the sound from the crowd was deafening - more like the cheer following the National Anthem at an NFL playoff game.

America is hungry for the heritage of personal freedom and individual dignity that once defined our daily life. But we can’t recapture and secure those fundamental values unless we commit to build a society that acknowledges their source. Obama tried to tear that society down. I see no evidence the Democrats running for President in 2020 won’t continue in his footsteps.
