Dreamers?
January 26, 2018

I’m a dreamer!
I dream of a better America, a country where we as individuals can fully enjoy the freedoms outlined in the Constitution that hundreds of thousands of brave Americans have given their lives for.
I dream of a world where Islamic terrorists are simply an asterisk in the history books and where political correctness was merely a misguided fad.
I dream of a country where English is heard much more often than Spanish and our immigration system only allows those to immigrate who earnestly desire to become American in their commitment to the values of freedom, hard work, and community.
I dream of a country with an education system in which teachers are at least as concerned with the success of their students as they are with the size of their contracts … an education system that gives every student the chance to fully develop their skill, and realize their potential.
I dream of building a military where advancements in automation and robotics make us so strong that no tyrant anywhere would dream of taking us on, and if they did, their aggression would be easily crushed and our loss of life would be very minimal.
I dream of a country where those entrusted to serve in public office put in their time, then were required by term limits to return to their communities and live under the laws they helped pass.
I dream of a country where both parties worked together and put the interests of ALL Americans ahead of their own narrow political gain
I dream of many more healthy and happy years on this earth shared with my beautiful bride, Catherine.
There are people in this country who as youngsters we’re illegally brought into America and are now referred to as DREAMERS.
DREAMERS, what a sweet name. Oh they are DREAMERS so (shedding a tear) we must feel sorry for them and cave to their demands.
I must admit to being confused. Most, if not all of these people, are now in their late teens, twenties and in some cases their thirties and are basically demanding that their status be changed from illegal immigrants to permanent citizens.
All of these people have known for at least ten years, and most of them more than that, their status in the United States was ILLEGAL.
While I do sympathize with their situation, I also wonder why they haven’t taken action before now to apply for citizenship in the legal and accepted manner.
Instead, they relied on Obama’s illegal regulation allowing them to stay in the country. Most of them knew the courts had ruled Obama’s program illegal and that it would likely end. But they apparently believed the promises of far left Democrats that President Hillary Clinton would give them immediate citizenship.
After Hillary’s loss, and the failed promises of Democrats, the left used a deeply cynical tactic designed to convince the dreamers that Democrats really did have their best interests at heart. They shut the government to convince Dreamers they were a higher priority than the 300 million Americans who depend on a functioning military, Social Security system, and federal government — at least they were higher priority for the one business day Democrats shut the government down.
Now the activists on the far left are in the streets DEMANDING that Dreamers be given instant citizenship. They don’t care about the rule of law … they don’t care about the constitution … and they don’t care about the ongoing flight of illegals across our border.
If Trump wants to trade permanent residence for immigration reform, I hope he’ll get a good deal. No citizenship for 10 years, elimination of chain migration, super vetting of anyone who wants to come here, the ability to sue leaders of sanctuary states and cities by the victims of crimes perpetrated by illegals, immigration based on what America needs not just cheap labor and, of course, meaningful border security.
Of course, the left will never agree. For them, it’s not about protecting American values. It’s about making political hay with a group whose votes they intend to lock down for generations. Because the only thing Democrats dream about is total control. And if they can manipulate immigration issues to lock in Hispanic votes, Democrats will be a huge step closer to achieving their dream.
