Happy New Year (I Hope)

Happy New Year

The federal government is now in its second week of closure as Democrats refuse to consider even a small payment to start building a wall on our southern border. They suggest no viable alternative to the wall. They can only complain it’s too expensive. But let’s not forget these are the same Democrats who supported President Obama’s giving $150 BILLION to Iran — our arch-enemy and the world’s number one sponsor of terror. By the way, if you guessed the bulk of that $150 billion went for more terror, you’d be right. It mostly went to terrorists in Syria, Palestine, Yemen and Iraq.

Of course Democrat complaints about the wall’s cost begs the question, “how much is too much to make Americans safer?”

California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey and many other states where Democrats rule now claim “sanctuary” status. If you want to understand the full ramifications of that, you can ask one Officer Ronil Singh of California. No, wait. Actually you can’t ask Officer Singh because an illegal immigrant killed him a few days ago. Unlike his killer, Officer Singh immigrated to the U.S. legally. He was from Fiji.

When law enforcement in a sanctuary state, city, or town arrests an illegal immigrant they are often prohibited from notifying ICE. Even if the illegal immigrant has committed a felony. Even if the illegal immigrant is a repeat offender. And that means ICE can’t prosecute, incarcerate, or deport the criminal as the situation requires.

The politicians who support so called “sanctuary” policies are basically telling the American people, “the political benefits of the immigration debate are more important to us than your safety.” Whaaat?

It’s mind numbing is it not? How can the left protect criminal illegals from prosecution or deportation even when it means putting Americans like Officer Singh at terrible risk? From my perspective, every time someone is hurt, raped, or killed by an illegal immigrant in a sanctuary city, the politicians who supported sanctuary status are as guilty as the criminal. It should make each and every one of us so angry we insist they be held accountable.

It’s sad that not one Democrat leader has stepped forward to criticize the far-left’s protections for illegal immigrants in light of Officer Singh’s murder.

In fact, Elizabeth Warren (she of Pocahontas fame,) didn’t say a peep about it while announcing recently that she’d formed a steering committee for her presidential campaign 22 months out from the election.

Instead, Senator Warren, talked about how she would be a president for all Americans. This even though her far-left agenda consists almost entirely of policies that will devote our economy and kill jobs. I’m talking here about major new tax hikes, more government regulation, less military preparedness, and increased federal involvement in nearly every aspect of our lives.

Amazingly, Senator Warren told Americans they could count on her to fight for working people despite the fact that her policies will destroy many of the jobs those working families depend on. What she did not mention was one word about the killing of Officer Singh.

So as we move from 2018 to 2019 not much has changed. Both sides are fighting tooth and nail to convince Americans they are right. What they don’t get is that all we want is for both sides to work together for the benefit of our country.

Sadly, I don’t have much hope that will happen in the new year. Democrats are still fixated almost solely on beating Donald Trump. Even if it means refusing to consider building a wall that helps us control immigration and keep Americans safer.

Happy New Year!
