Impeach, Kapeesh - Get A Life

Impeach

Now that Mueller has totally debunked all the crazy conspiracy theories of Trump-Russian collusion, you’d think the leftist Democrats and their fellow-travelers in the media would want to change the subject.

NO. Instead, they're doubling down on accusing Trump. I’m not sure exactly what they’re blaming him for, but many have indicated they’ll move forward with impeachment — even though they haven’t actually articulated any specific allegations of wrongdoing.

Instead, they’re name calling and hyperbolizing.

Even though the Mueller report categorically affirms there was absolutely no collusion, Robert Francis O’Rourke said he would support impeachment because, “there may be an open question as to whether the president sought to collude with the Russian government…”

Kamala Harris said, “I believe that we need to get rid of this president.”

Nancy Pelosi said, President Trump “…is an existential threat to our Democracy.”

What? Come on, existential threats include a massive thermonuclear war, an asteroid hitting the midwest, or Bernie Sanders being appointed to the Council of Economic Advisors.

Clearly, Donald Trump has proven he’s exactly the opposite of an extinction level event. With Trump; unemployment is down; the economy is strong; marathon wars are tapering off; middle-class wages are on the rise; China is being forced into a fairer trade deal; and we’re finally standing up to bad-actors like Iran, Russia, and Cuba.

Most Americans are tired of the antipathy and just want Congress to do its job. Maybe a few votes went Maxine Waters’ way because of her “impeach 45” chants. Or maybe the Rub A Dub Dub trio of AOC and two Muslim Congresswomen who occupy the same ideological tub are raking in internet contributions from their wacky fellow leftists.

But America clearly has no appetite for feeding in the next two years on what’s been served up the last two years … investigations, name-calling, and unsubstantiated accusations.

It all shows further how out of touch Democrats are with independents and moderates. Even Bernie Sanders gets this when he says Democrats need to stop talking Trump and start talking issues.

But that’s impossible in the middle of the impeachment process. Impeachment sucks all the air out of the room. Nothing else can get accomplished. The politicians make blame shifting and finger pointing their sole occupation. The media spends 90% of their time dramatizing the same. And nothing else happens. All effort and energy is drained away. Democrats do their blah, blah, blah pre-approved sound bites in front of news cameras. They refuse to consider the President’s initiatives. The high-level heads of the administration who make government work won’t get approved by the Senate. Judges won’t either.

In short, impeachment fundamentally shuts the government down. And, as always, it’s the middle class who pays.

We don’t get the infrastructure upgrades we need to improve our electrical grid, make G-5 available to everyone, repair our roads and bridges, fix our freeways, improve power generation, and just generally make our lives better now and for future generations.

We’re hurt in countless ways by an immigration system which is about as useful as shoe umbrellas. Illegal immigrants already in the country cost taxpayers around $150 billion or more each year. With at least a hundred thousand more each month that’s going to get worse. And so is crime, gang activity, drug smuggling, and homelessness.

Our young people suffer from underperforming schools, but here’s another issue where Democrats play politics rather than standing up to teacher unions by bringing competition or giving parents more options. And where are the vocational schools they once promised so those not bound for college can learn a skill that provides value to their neighbors and a good life for their families?

When you look at the polls of what Americans consider to be the most important issues today, it sure as hell is NOT impeachment, it’s not the Muller report, and for damn sure it’s not more blah, blah, blah about Russian involvement in elections — though they clearly do not want that happening again.

Americans want a government that functions again … fixes the growing threat on our southern border … makes them safer from crime … fights and ends terrorism … improves schools … solves our health care crisis … extends our economic prosperity, and finds ways to include those who didn’t benefit in past periods of prosperity.

We desperately need comprehensive immigration reform that helps those in dire need of real asylum from real persecution, finally solves the uncertainty plaguing dreamers, provides America with greater talent, and gives businesses more access to labor. Democrats, however, have no interest in reform. Why solve a problem when there are still votes to gain from it?

Americans are fed up with the lies, excuses, and finger-pointing. They want our politicians to work as hard as they do. They may or may not like his tweets, but they see President Trump doing that work.

My prediction is that Democrats will double down on their “Impeach and Resist” strategy, and, in doing so they’ll bring on the very result they want most to avoid: the re-election of the President.
