No Nobel
May 07, 2018

Even before he took office, about 10 years ago, it was announced that Mr. Obama was to be given the Nobel Peace Prize. Most of my friends and I were curious why. He hadn’t done anything; not as a U.S. Senator or as a community organizer.
He talked about ending the wars in the Middle East; but even 8 years later that hadn’t happened. He talked about closing GITMO; he never did. He talked about turning around our economy; instead we suffered the worst unemployment since the great depression. He talked about fundamentally changing America; and, to the extent he succeeded, he did so to the detriment of our country. He talked about redistributing the wealth; and that he tried to do in many underhanded ways…ways that mostly made the middle class poorer and made the gap between the rich and poor grow to it’s widest point since the industrial revolution.
But at the point he was awarded the prize, he hadn’t done any of that. He’d been awarded this most distinguished of prizes, along with a million bucks, and he hadn’t done a damn thing. As far as I can tell, he got the award for no reason other than being elected the first socialist, half-black, president. Really?
So consider this. We now have a president who by admittedly unusual statements and other means, has actually brought the most aggressively provocative dictator in the world to the brink of peace.
The latest big news is that the heads of both North and South Korea talked together and decided to end the 65 year old Korean War. WOW! It appears now that North Korea’s president MAY BE in the process of ending his campaign to destroy any country in the world that disagrees with him.
So isn’t it amazing that not only the Nobel Peace Prize Organization is deadly silent about this, but also that the liberals in the media and politics just keep saying ‘we have been here before’.
No, we have not. The leaders of the two Koreas have never before had these kinds of conversations. This is the first moment since it started that both the Koreas are talking about an end to the Korean War. Will it all fall apart? Maybe. That doesn’t change the fact that progress like this has never happened before.
And it’s all because Donald Trump demanded North Korea mend its ways. But he didn’t stop there, he followed up and put intense pressure on North Korea and the few friends and trading partners it has left. So where’s the talk of peace prizes for President Trump? I guess we shouldn’t hold our breath.
