Pelosi’s Big Gamble

September 26, 2019

If gambling on politics were legal, the risk Nancy Pelosi and her band of corrupt and incompetent committee chairmen are taking to inaugurate impeachment proceedings against President Trump would undoubtedly enhance Trump’s chances for re-election. At least based on what we know of the “evidence” so far.

First, a look at history: Bill Clinton was guilty as sin of perjuring himself before Congress and the American people (forget his lewd acts with Monica under the Oval Office desk which were the subject of his perjury). As a result, Republicans went after him like flies on a sweaty horse. They were sorry for it. Rather than Clinton losing his job due to impeachment, it was New Gingrich who lost his job as Speaker when voters registered their complaint and elected dozens of new Democrats to Congress.

Even though the American people knew beyond a shadow of a doubt Clinton was guilty, they were sick of what they perceived as the constant badgering and bullying of Clinton and his family – so sick of it in fact, they rewarded Democrats with control of the House.

The shoe now is on the other foot. Ever since Donald Trump beat Hillary, Democrats and their media allies have pursued a relentless quest for enough dirt on the President that impeachment is justified. Real evidence isn’t the point. They have very little. What they have lots of is reckless allegations. And with enough of those, they’re convinced some of them have to stick.

Three of the worst committee chairs in the Democrat House are Jerry Nadler, Adam Schiff, and Maxine Waters.

Waters has made herself horse over the past 3 years chanting, “IMPEACH 41, IMPEACH 41.” Maybe she thinks a deep and scratchy voice makes her sexier. Or maybe she just like hearing herself yell. But so far, she’s not produced any basis at all for impeachment.

Both Nadler and Schiff vowed from the first they would spend all their time and political capital investigating Trump for the sole purpose of bringing him down. They’ve kept their promise, but still haven’t found any offense that even begins to rise to the level of impeachable.

Both the Senators from my own home state of Connecticut have justified their call for impeachment by alleging Trump is dishonest. And it must be admitted, they know a little something about dishonesty.

It was Senator Richard Bloomenthal who claimed he’d served in Vietnam when he’d actually only ever been a member of a reserve unit in Washington DC that helped organize Toys for Tots. Bloomenthall also fought tooth and claw against the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh insisting he must be guilty. He was never able to prove what Kavanaugh must be guilty of, but proof was never the issue. Bloomenthal has the moral fortitude of a snake.

My other Connecticut Senator, Chris Murphy, was also caught lying when he promised voters he’d personally read EVERY page of the Affordable Health Care Act. He absolutely confirmed that Americans could keep their doctors and their healthcare.

Alas, Bloomenthal and Murphy are likely safe bets for re-election. The number of Republicans who call Connecticut home is tiny and getting smaller by the moment as they flee to other, less socialist environs.

Fortunately for our Republic, President Trump is strong, smart, and most important, right. I may not always agree with his rhetorical flourishes, but he has consistently proven you can believe what he promises. And the Democrats have consistently proven that all Trump’s warnings about a Washington DC swamp are true.

Isn’t it interesting that the Democrats have launched their impeachment plan at this moment, on the eve of the Justice Department releasing a report about corruption in the Obama Administration? The report from Justice focuses on the reasons Obama and his appointees at the FBI and in the Intelligence community launched a massive criminal investigation into candidate Trump’s political campaign. It was very nearly an attempted coup against a candidate they opposed for purely political reasons. And it could well uncover far more corruption than any of the allegations leveled so far against Trump.

Everything about the Democrat’s timing stinks more than last month’s spoiled milk. It highlights other Democrat hypocrisies as well.

Even the basis of their current charge stands to hurt Democrats more than Trump. Their contention is that Trump requested the President of Ukraine launch an investigation into Joe Biden’s withholding U.S. aid unless Ukraine fired a prosecutor looking into corruption by Joe Biden’s son. Biden did withhold the aid. Ukraine did fire the prosecutor. And Biden’s son did profit handsomely.

Another problem is that impeachment proceedings assure Democrats continue to achieve NOTHING they promised in 2018. Essentially, any work Congress could have done in this session will be put on hold till at least impeachment is over. It’s bad enough that in the year they’ve been in charge Democrats haven’t passed a single bill to make Americans safer from guns, reform the tax code, solve immigration concerns, address our mental health problems, or reduce prescription drug costs. Impeachment now means none of those things, or any others, will get the attention of Congress.

Democrats have done nothing but persecute and harass Donald Trump, his family, and the members of his administration. Americans deserve better, much better.
