Perplexed Again

Can you imagine if a middle aged woman, conservative, white comedian posted a photo holding up the the severed head of Barrack Obama?
Can you imagine if white state legislators somewhere called for the rape and murder of the former First Lady and and her daughters?
And think for a moment of the outrage that would follow a white state legislator’s call for the immediate murder of the nation’s President simply because he wasn’t of the political party he preferred, or the ethnicity he preferred, or the temperament he preferred?
These and so many other hateful acts have happened recently — and still happen every day — all aimed at Donald Trump and his family.
The true insanity here is that NONE of the people making such threats have been investigated, arrested, or charged. The celebrity radicals still enjoy their freedom, those in public office are still there, and they all remain celebrated heroes by their peers.
The thing that perplexes me is the gross double standard that allows, and even encourages, this appalling behavior toward our President and his family.
You and I know the recrimination, intense shaming, and even criminal prosecution that would take place if it the shoe was on the other foot. But those who would scream the loudest if it were you or me, are silent to the hateful behavior of the left. Or worse. The media, the leaders of the Democrat Party, and the elites in culture and academia encourage their behavior.
Many of us found it hard beyond imagining to tolerate the 8 years of Obama and his mission to “fundamentally change America.” We detested his policies. We cringed when he insulted us (“you didn’t build that,”) when he weakened our nation (“lead from behind,”) and when he lied to us (“if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”)
Nevertheless, we didn’t once call for Obama’s death, or suggest his wife and daughters be savagely assaulted.
I get that not everyone likes Donald Trump. He is clearly an acquired taste, but he is our President and like him or not, he is doing what he promised to do when he ran for President. And he’s succeeding.
Lower taxes, less regulation, and fairer trade deals are working to give us the strongest economy in decades. He killed the outrageous treaty with the terrorists in Iran. He’s brought Rocket Man to the table in an attempt to insure a nuke free Korean Peninsula. Not a bad start for a guy who never held public office before.
So, I have a thought for you folks on the left (should any of you run across this blog). Settle down a little and show this President and his family at least as much respect as we conservatives showed the last one. You don’t have to respect the man, but try to show a little respect for the office.
I understand you want to get rid of him. You’ll get your chance. That’s why we have elections.
