Politicians Get Away With Armed Robbery
February 07, 2019

How is it possible that our elected representatives think the government is entitled to as much of your money as they care to take?
No matter how hard you think you work for your money, when these people decide we’re not giving them enough, they just take more. Then they use our money to provide expensive perks (including cash) to their chosen beneficiaries on the basis that those people will vote to keep them in power — and keep the benefits coming. WOW!
Remember the term Obama made famous? “Redistribution of Wealth.” In a word, socialism.
While Obama didn’t start socialism, he seems to have popularized it because there is a growing number of people in our country calling for a massive redistribution of wealth. It seems when one group sees another getting free stuff, they start demanding free stuff too.
The only problem is that once we have a large majority sucking off the ever diminishing minority, the whole system collapses. Witness Venezuela — only a decade ago it was hailed as a socialist paradise by the Hollywood crowd and the same politicians now promising a socialist utopia of our very own.
Some of these politicians say it is morally wrong that anyone should be a billionaire. It simply doesn’t matter how smart they are, or how hard they worked, or how many jobs they’ve created, or how many others benefit from their wealth. The leftists deem billionaires immoral and therefore government is “entitled” to take a huge chunk of their money.
But of course penalizing billionaires is only the start. The leftists have started to realize that even if they take every dime of wealth from the super-rich, it hardly makes a dent in paying for their spending schemes.
So they now propose unleashing their thuggery on the very people they originally promised to support — the middle class. I’ve seen proposals that would raise federal taxes to more than 50% on families making $250,000 a year. Now I know $250,000 sounds like a lot of money, but when you consider the taxes they already pay — state taxes, local taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, and other miscellaneous fees and taxes — it can add up to 20% or more.
On top of those state and local taxes, add the costs for day care, transportation, education for the kids, Medicare and social security taxes, and an already high 38% federal income tax, and you see that paying for anything else quickly goes down the drain.
But the leftists want to jack federal taxes up from 38% to more than 50%.
Now, I’m not saying anyone should feel sorry for the family making $250,000 a year, just pointing out the reality that even that amount of money can vanish pretty quickly with all the taxes and fees we currently pay to federal, state and local governments.
It’s also important to remember that 50% of our population today pays NO federal income taxes…NONE at all. But many of those people still qualify for a “tax refund” despite the fact they pay NOTHING!
If we required a mandatory minimum tax of just $10.00 a month — and stopped refunding taxes they didn’t pay — we could add over $100 billion to the federal treasury.
Having skin in the game might also give people a little more incentive to keep an eye on how politicians spend their money. It could encourage them to tell politicians to hold the line on tax hikes. It would certainly be a fairer way of increasing tax revenues than taking 80% or more of what someone earns.
Of course, none of that will ever happen so long as we keep electing leftists to Congress. They don’t want more taxpayers. They’re only interested in locking ever-greater numbers of needy voters into their winning coalitions.
I suppose that’s the answer to the question, “why do they think they’re entitled to your money.” In the end, they really believe they deserve to stay in office because only they know what’s best for you and their superior wisdom gives them the right to take your money and mine. Even at the point of a gun.
It’s straight out armed robbery. But they can justify it because, after all, they’re only doing it for your good.
