Random Thoughts

Have you heard about the California State Legislature wanting to tax every text Californians send and maybe even receive? Until that is the FCC put a stop to it. But if California’s loony left had gotten their way, you can be sure liberals in Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, and every other left wing state would have followed along. The danger’s not over. Because if Republicans lose the White House in 2020, you can be sure the pressure on the FCC to change its ruling will be incredibly intense.

Have you heard that transgender individuals are entering and winning athletic events previously exclusive to women — even the Ms. Universe pageant? These are things women have worked hard to train for over a great many years, many since they were children. Where in the world is the fairness? But the politically correct left-wing defends this. Where, and when, will it all end?

Speaking of transgender, have you heard that there’s a move among American teachers to introduce lesson plans that encourage kids as early as the first grade to question their own gender? Other than these teachers, does anyone believe it’s a good idea to encourage children to question their sex before they can even spell it? And does anyone out there really think public school teachers should be leading the way?

And sticking with the outrageous, consider this. Each member of Congress takes an oath upon being seated. The oath is stipulated by U.S. law and goes like this:

“I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

On any number of counts, it seems clear to me that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are in clear violation of their oaths. Just consider their refusal to defend our constitutional borders from those who want to cross into our country illegally. Or the fact they’d rather shut down the government than see a wall built that would protect our people.

There’s also plenty of insanity to be found in the new Democrat congressional agenda.

Number one on the list is higher taxes even though all the evidence clearly shows that raising taxes hurts the economy. Remember when Obama raised taxes and we suffered from anemic growth of less than 2%? A year into his term Trump cut taxes and the economy took off — doubling the rate of growth experienced under Obama.

After tax increases, the next big priority for Democrats is INVESTIGATIONS. New committee chairs promise us they’ll investigate every aspect of President Trump’s life — his finances, his friends, his family, his property, his taxes, and any other damn thing they can think might his 2020 re-election.

In the meantime, these same new Democrat leaders are closing down legitimate investigations into any Democrats that were previously launched by bi-partisan agreement. It’s a free pass for some of the most corrupt offenders.

Yes, I know these are all just random subjects held together by little more than their common idiocy. Unfortunately, there are so many more breathtakingly dumb things happening these days that blog posts like this are likely to become more common. So stay tuned. And please, stay informed. If we’re ever going to get back to any standard of common sense, its going to take a lot more reason and knowledge and a lot less emotion and ignorance.
