The Memo
February 08, 2018

The MEMO is out and if anyone wonders why the swamp needs so desperately to be drained, it should be perfectly clear now. Members of the Obama Administration were clearly corrupt.
Everyone is entitled to their political beliefs. And in America they can actually act on those beliefs by choosing their favorite candidate for whatever office and cast their vote accordingly.
There are, however, supposed to be constraints on government employees who are paid with taxpayer funds. For them, it is illegal to use taxpayer paid work time or resources to help a candidate or partisan cause.
Even worse than using tax dollars to support a partisan candidate or cause, though, is using legal means to undermine or subvert one party or another. But that’s exactly what was happening with Obama’s FBI and Justice Department. They were using law enforcement personnel and equipment to try and defeat Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton.
It’s not the first time Obama’s Administration resorted to using government agencies to subvert the free and fair political activities. You may remember the IRS denied conservative groups the same tax status they approved for liberal organizations. Worse, they targeted conservative groups for special “audits.” They even went after Ben Carson after he criticized President Obama.
Obama clearly ran one of the most corrupt administrations ever seen by the American people.
This is the Washington DC swamp at its worst. But to be clear, this does not involve the vast majority of employees at these departments. Laws have been broken and trust reduced by a handful of senior people at the FBI and the Justice Department.
Remember the interview by the FBI of Hillary at her home about her private servers. No swearing to tell the truth, no notes taken and no recording. And then there was the meeting on the tarmac at the Phoenix airport between the Attorney General and Bill Clinton….Yea, they talked about grandchildren!
And of course we now have the Fusion dossier. This was an “opposition research” paper funded by the Hillary for President and the Democrat National Committee that even FBI Director James Comes called “salacious and unverified.”
What is so troubling is that it was this very unverified document that the FBI and the Justice Department used at the FISA court to get permission to spy on Trump and his people. Worse, even though they knew it was untrue and loaded with lies, Justice and the FBI decided NOT to inform the court it was funded by the Democrats, or that it was completely bogus, or that it was at least partly based on Russian disinformation.
They renewed the FISA warrant 4 different times and not once did they disclose the truth about the dossier.
On one occasion it was Comey, himself, who requested the FISA warrant … and this two months after he told Trump that the dossier was filled with false accusations.
WOW.
Democrats of course are ballistic over the release of the memo because they know how devastating it will be if Americans ever find out how corrupt the Obama Administration really was. And the media have joined them in obscuring the real issue as much as possible. Rather than asking how and why the FBI and Justice abused their power to spy illegally on a former volunteer for the Trump campaign, they’re characterizing the memo as an attack on law enforcement. It would be hilarious if it weren’t so worrisome.
This entire episode indicates the desperate need for a lot more transparency in how federal agencies behave — especially those who can use force legally like the FBI and the Justice Department.
Hopefully, these revelations will convince Congress it’s past time they resumed their proper roll of finding and rooting out corruption and abuse in federal agencies and departments.
And as Robert Mueller continues his investigation of Russian influence in the election, he might consider taking a hard look at how Russia played the FBI and the Justice Department with regard to using the Fusion dossier to start a bogus investigation and obtain illegal wiretaps. Of course, I’m not holding my breath that former FBI Director Mueller will do anything that might hold the FBI accountable.
I salute President Trump for his pledge to drain the swamp. If we find Republicans at the bottom, prosecute them. Ditto for any Democrats that he finds. Americans are entitled to an honest and transparent government. And no American should ever be afraid to run for election — or participate in a campaign — because they’re afraid they’ll be illegally targeted by federal law enforcement.
