The Push For Complete Transgender Conformity
December 04, 2019

In 1989, Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen wrote a book called “After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90’s.” The book detailed a professionalized public relations strategy to promote the normalization of gay lifestyles.
My hat is off to them. Their approach was wildly successful. You’d think, based on the campaign they launched, at least 50% of the U.S. population was gay.
Here are the facts.
There are 320 million people in the U.S. and most experts agree that only 2.7%, or approximately 8.5 million, are gay.
Nevertheless, they’ve landed special legal accords, are featured in damn near every TV show and movie, and appear prominently in lots of ad campaigns.
Now, the transgender lobby is engaged in using the same tactics to hype the idea that transgender preferences are common.
Listen, I don’t begrudge any group trying to elevate their status, but it seems to me we’ve gone a bit overboard when we have to believe that gender is nothing more than a choice. What happened to the left’s undying commitment to science?
Case studies indicate that no more than .06% of the population falls under transgender categories–that’s only about 200,000 people. Yet that tiny sliver of the population is hell-bent on dictating law and policy?
Here are just 4 reasons why that’s a potentially big problem.
First, it’s unfair. People born as male increasingly compete against those born as female in school and professional athletics. More often than not, the biological male retains a huge advantage. Women athletes work just as hard as men to excel. They pour their lives and their hearts into training. Then along comes a man who claims he “feels” like a woman, but possesses the strength and speed you’d expect given his male chromosomes, and he/she crushes the dreams of hard working female athletes. How is that fair?
Second, it’s unsafe. The Obama Administration made much of the rights of boys and men who claim they’re girls and women to use the same locker rooms and restrooms as those who are actually born girls and women. School district after school district caved into Obama’s mandates and opened girl’s locker rooms and restrooms to males who claimed deep down to be female. Anyone think a sex predator won’t take advantage?
Third, for children, it’s confusing in the short run and potentially damaging in the long run. Sex education in many schools starts as early as third grade. That means 8-year olds are being taught transgenderism is normal and experimentation with gender identity is natural. Not only that, but some children at young ages are being encouraged to undergo hormone therapy or even surgery to “correct” their gender identity. As far as I can tell it’s just a new category of sex abuse.
Given their recent history recasting every subject they teach with a left wing narrative, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t part of some grand scheme by teacher’s unions to screw up a generation of children. Causing them to question their own gender could well make children more malleable to believing the weird philosophies schools are already indoctrinating our children to believe.
Finally, the trans-movement is skewing the spending and problem-solving priorities of government. Liberal judges have already started ruling that taxpayers should be responsible to pay for some sex change procedures. Even more of the costs are covered by Democrat single-payer socialist health care proposals.
Those costs aren’t small. Women who would like to become men can pay up to $50,000. For men interested in going the other direction, it’s about half that. There are about 500 of these procedures performed each year in the United States. Assuming a 50/50 split, that means the cost to taxpayers could run as much as $20 million — $200 million over the next 10 years. Of course that’s assuming the number of those getting surgery remains constant which a host of special interests from trans activists to teacher’s unions want to assure doesn’t happen.
Really? We don’t have anything more important to do with taxpayer money than pay for sex-change operations? Why should taxpayers be responsible in the first place? Instead, leave the money with the people who earned it and let them decide what medical procedures they want to pay for.
The campaign on behalf of the gay community has been a huge success. Still, when the LGBTQ lobby wants you not just to accommodate their outlook, but also agree with it, fund it, and even encourage your children to adopt it, they’ve gone too far. And when you’re guilty of a hate crime by suggesting there are distinct biological differences between men and women, or disagreeing with the notion that gender is only a choice, then it’s time for a deep breath and a little perspective.
