The Very Nearly Brain Dead
February 28, 2019

I don’t know about all Americans, but the ones who live in the two Congressional districts that elected Muslims to the U.S. Congress most certainly have short memories.
Why else would they have elected Muslims to Congress only 18 years after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center that killed 3,000 Americans?
Of course, the Americans in those two districts aren’t the only ones with a problem. Today a growing number of Americans say they believe socialism is a better economic system than capitalism. Those people don’t just have a short memory, they’re very nearly brain-dead!
Forget the complete disaster of the Soviet Union, the economic catastrophe of Cuba, and the brutal humanitarian abuses of China, Cambodia, and North Korea. Let’s look at a more recent example of success becoming disaster.
Only 2 decades ago, Venezuela was the richest country in Latin America with a thriving social life and an economy filled with promise for all of its people.
Then along came socialist Hugo Chavez, a politician who got elected espousing many of the same ideas today’s Democrats want to bring to America. The rich should be forced to share their wealth, large landowners should be forced to break up their holdings and share them with others, and vastly successful companies should be controlled by “the people” (i.e. the government.)
Early on, Chavez teamed up with Fidel Castro to implement free health care, free education, and government confiscation of most business. He took over foreign owned businesses throwing out or killing the foreigners and paying absolutely nothing for the businesses.
Chavez named Nicolas Maduro, a former bus driver, as his Vice President.
Chavez started the lurch toward socialism. Maduro — with no knowledge of history, economics, or leadership — continued it.
The results are horrendous. Children are literally dying from malnutrition and lack of medicine. The economy has completely collapsed. Everyone who could afford to do so, has left. Everyone else is suffering. And when the people demonstrate against Maduro and his corrupt, dictatorial government, the army guns them down in the streets.
And the wealth gap Chavez and Maduro claimed they would close? It’s bigger than ever because literally everyone in the country is starving except the country’s leadership — they have billions stashed in European banks.
Inflation last year hit 1,000%. This year it’s on track to top 1 million percent! Just to give you an idea of the damage done by hyperinflation, a candy bar that cost $1 on January 1st of 2018 cost $10 at the end of the year. At 1 million percent rate of inflation now projected for 2019, that same candy bar will cost $10,000. YIKERS!
So yes, those Americans who think socialism is preferable to capitalism are idiots. Sadly for us, that includes a good many (if not all) of the Democrats running for President.
